All About Gold.

Posted on July 29, 2010 by adminNo Comments

I am coming across several posts on investing in gold from friends’ blogs. I don’t actually drop by blogs, but I do read their posts from my blog feeds subscriptions. I must say that it got me interested in this type of investment so I did a little research. United States Gold Bureau is a very helpful site. Aside from several informative articles on gold, silver and precious metals investment, you can likewise buy gold eagle coins from them. They can even deliver or have your purchase stored at a bank or depository. Gold is said to expand your investments and protect your wealth and even your purchasing power.

Blast From The Past.

Posted on July 28, 2010 by adminNo Comments

I have uploaded a new set of old photos in my Flickr account. Thanks to DH for scanning them for me. I will never have the energy to scan that much photos. But I do have one big box of old pictures that I want scanned though. I don’t know when I’ll be able to that.

Anyway, here are some of my photos way back from college.

Five Steps Toward a Greener Kitchen.

Posted on July 24, 2010 by adminNo Comments

I found this post from Simple Mom very helpful. Yes, my kitchen is green, but it is nowhere near “green”. But I hope I can follow most, if not all, the steps below. These are great tips, preparing and eating foods that are good for the body and good for the earth, as well. As always, baby steps is the key.

Do what you can, when you can; take small steps, just don’t stop.

1. Make sustainable food choices.
~ eat in season and locally, (how to source food locally)
~ learn to cook real food,
~ grow something, anything.

2. Shop smart.
~ Make a menu plan and stick to your grocery list.
~ Bring reusable shopping bags and produce bags.
~ Buy bulk when appropriate. Less trips to the store means less fuel emissions, and it saves time, energy and money.
~ Buy organic. Supporting crop rotation, water protection and pesticide-free food is a win-win situation for both the farmers and you.

3. Be an energy-wise cook.

4. Eat more plants.
~ Turn your side dishes into main dishes. Instead of making meat the centerpiece of your meal, serve smaller portions of it and add an extra vegetable to the menu.

5. Implement these four ‘R’s into daily cooking.
~ Reduce. Buy only what you need. Be conscious about food waste.
~ Reuse.
~ Repurpose. Save those glass jars, plastic containers and tin cans for a reincarnation.
~ Recycle:

My Goals.

Posted on July 24, 2010 by adminNo Comments

I really need to start taking my sideline seriously. It’s the middle of the year and I am still far from my year-end goal. You see, I am planning to get myself some big time gift for my birthday. Now I am not sure if I can do that. I hope I get more work in the coming days and I hope I will have the energy to accomplish those, aside from my mommy and wife duties.

And maybe when I have enough, we might be able to buy gold bullion. I am coming across this type of investment for some time now and I want to give it a try. I frequent USGoldBureau.com just so I will learn more about investing in gold, silver and other precious metals. Transactions and purchases from them are also guaranteed safe and secure. Another plus is their group of dedicated people who are more than happy to be of assistance to their customers.

These are real pears. A Chinese farmer grows these baby-shaped pears by putting molds on the fruit while it is growing on the tree. Amazing, isn’t it?

Menu Planning Tips.

Posted on July 19, 2010 by adminNo Comments

By planning ahead for the week I reduce the number of trips to the grocery store, avoid last-minute fast food dinners, and totally skip over the hour of doom…

I will try these tips. It is indeed not easy planning and preparing meals for the family. I bet I won’t be having sleepless nights and won’t be needing even the best sleep aid out there, if everything that I need to do is planned and listed. It really does free my mind.

For the tips:
1. For menu planning to be done most effectively, you need to set aside a regular time to do it
2. Write Monday through Sunday down the side of the paper, leaving space enough between them to write the meal plus comments.
3. Note on the paper any things in the upcoming week that affect your day.
4. Decide what to prepare.
5. Save one day a week for a new dish from a cookbook or a food blog if you like to try new things.
6. Make a note of where the recipe is as you write down the menu for each day.
7. Have your shopping list next to your menu planning sheet.
8. If you tend to have a lot of leftovers from your meals, plan one day as LO (leftover) day.
9. Lastly, look for twofer opportunities. What’s a twofer? It’s getting two meals from the effort of one.

Finally I found the list the I’ve been looking for. I am no cook but I try to prepare hearty and healthy meals for the family. This list of kitchen basics will be of great help for the kitchen. I am hoping I can order a few kitchen gadgets online before Christmas.
