Saving Mode.

Posted on September 30, 2009 by adminNo Comments

We are in saving mode. No spending on unnecessary items. I don’t think it’s proper to go on splurging on needless stuff especially now that many people, some of our relatives included, are still coping with the tragedy brought about by the typhoon.

They are still checking out their stuff but I think they might need some household items, clothes and other basic needs. It is so timely that my SIL abroad is planning to send a balikbayan box to them. We are going to help her fill the box so I am browsing for some coupons so we can get more out of our money. I got several Walmart coupon codes and we are taking advantage of their clearance on electronics and various apparel. I hope we can get at least the basic items that they are going to need.

On Sports.

My son’s school was supposed to have a kiddie baseball team. I am not sure if DS would love it but I signed him up anyway primarily because of the uniform. Too bad, the plan didn’t push through as only a few signed up. Maybe I should just get him Paintball jerseys instead. ZephyrPaintball.com offers them as well as goggles, hoppers, guns and starter packages. Plus their items are so budget-friendly, I wouldn’t think twice purchasing the whole set for my son. I might get DH a matching set, too. It would be fun to see both his dad and him wearing matching jerseys. And once his complete gear arrives, I am off to take tons of pictures.

Apple Juice.

Posted on September 19, 2009 by admin1 Comment

The benefits of apple or apple juice:
* Contains antioxidants that improve immune function
* Prevents heart disease
* Protects lung function
* Aids in digestion
* Protects the colon (Colonic cancer is very very common in humans)
* Promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria in the digestive tract
* Can detoxify the body

I had to google the benefits above as we had fresh apple juice today. I have been good and have been using my newly-bought juicer regularly. Anyway, it was supposed to be mainly a carrot juice but I never realized that two big apples have so much juice so I only need a few slices of carrots to complete our juice.

New Theme.

Posted on September 19, 2009 by admin2 Comments

I got some free time last week and decided to change my blog theme. I liked it then but now I am having second thoughts. I think I want to overhaul this blog again. But I’m having a hard time looking for a clean, three-column layout that it easy to modify. I will change this. Next week perhaps, and when I’m done with my chores.

Hey Mickey!

disney2

My son is crazy about Mickey Mouse. He makes sure to catch the cartoons Good Morning Mickey on cable every morning. He has also been carrying his Mickey Mouse Adventures book frequently and even requesting to get more of that book. I stumbled upon discounted Disney Tickets online and it got me excited. I am sure my son will love to come face to face with his most favorite cartoon of all. And I am more than excited to take pictures. There are several Disney theme parks and I would love for us to visit each of them. I will be bookmarking OrlandoFunTickets.com and will surely get our tickets from them once we go on vacation.

I am so happy to have come across a selection of fast and fresh pasta dishes from The Kitchn. I especially like them as they are easy and quick to prepare. Plus I can prepare bigger portions and store them in the ref. I hope I get to try a recipe soon. (Photo grabbed from site.)
