How To Stick To Your Diet.

Posted on March 19, 2009 by adminNo Comments

Strategies on how to stick to your diet and get fit snagged from ZenHabits.

1. Know your motivation.

2. Take it in gradual steps.

3. Don’t be drastic. Don’t do anything drastic — make long-lasting changes.

4. Choose foods you love. Find the foods you love that are healthy, and you’ll stick with the diet much longer.

5. Pack food. Always bring healthy food with you, wherever you go.

6. Eat before you go.

7. Don’t get hungry.

8. Choose healthy when you eat out.

9. Indulge in little bits.

10. Eat small portions when you go out.

11. Have tasty substitutes for your weaknesses. Whatever your weaknesses, find a substitute that will satisfy your cravings when they inevitably come up.

12. Clear your home of unhealthy snacks and foods.

13. Bring your own healthy food to a party. If it’s allowed, bring a dish to a party you’re planning on attending, and make it a healthy one.

14. Fill yourself up with water, fruits, veggies, and lean protein at a party.

15. Don’t stuff yourself. Make this your ultimate rule.

16. Don’t starve yourself. This might sound like the “don’t get hungry” tip above, but it’s bigger than that — don’t eat so little that you’re starving. For most women, that means don’t go below 1,200 calories a day — for men, it’s 1,500.

17. If you indulge, burn it off.

Food Choices # 10.

Posted on March 13, 2009 by adminNo Comments

1. Are you giving up food for Lent (if you are practicing abstinence)? Which one do you like and hate the most? We usually try not to eat pork on a Friday. Lately though we are not eating pork because of the ebola-reston scare so pork is out already. Maybe I’ll try to serve more veggies instead. This isn’t abstinence for me though as I love veggies. But this will surely be an abstinence for my boys. ;)

2. Which food do you abstain from and which do you replace it with? Pork usually. We eat fish instead.

3. Which food (fruit, delicacy or cooking) is your hometown proud of? My original hometown of Lumban is known for its barong Tagalog. The town where I reside now is known for its puto binan {rice cake}.

4. I actually am craving for some meringue right now, what are YOU craving ? I am craving for the salad from Sonya’s Garden. ;)

5. I’m going on a Sunday lunch date with friends, if you are my friend, where would you take me that you are so sure that we are going to be eating the best meal? Sonya’s nga!

1. How many servings of fruit do you have on average most days? I usually have at least one serving of fruit a day. Lately, I am trying to have more than that.

2. How often do you use toothpicks? Rarely.

3. How many servings of vegetables do you have on average most days? At least 2. Our ulam usually have veggies {a lot!} on it.

4. Raw or pasteurized? What is your choice? Pasteurized, because it’s safer.

5. Are energy drinks (like Red Bull) less, more, or as effective as coffee? I don’t know. I haven’t tried them.

Four Foods On Friday 69.

Posted on March 8, 2009 by admin2 Comments

Fun, Crafts and Recipes

#1. Olive oil. What kind do you prefer to use?
I use extra virgin olive oil.

#2. Meatballs. Do you make them from scratch, buy premade cooked or buy premade frozen? I don’t prepare meatballs. The only time the family eats meatballs is when we eat out.

#3. Do you use napkins at home? Paper or cloth?
Just paper napkins.

#4. Share a recipe for a white sauce.
I haven’t tried preparing white sauce from scratch.

1. Are you a fan of veggies? Which one do you like and hate the most?

2. What’s your usual breakfast?
I have a stock of oatmeal and cereal drink, but I usually have either breakfast from McDonald’s or Jollibee.

3. What food can you not live without?
Vegetables.

4. Are you a water drinker? If not, which drink do you often replace with water?
I am. I drink water a lot especially during meals.

5. Summer is here! Name one tropical food you look forward to eating!
Melon.

I can’t get enough of this. I want to have this with banana again. I know this has been around for a while, but it was just this weekend during Asher’s 1st birthday that I got to try it. I am not a fan of anything chocolate – bar, drink, ice cream, but this one I loved. I thought strawberry with chocolate was good, but I enjoyed the banana with chocolate more. Yum!
