Solitude.

Posted on July 26, 2008 by admin9 Comments

Found this good read from The Inspired Room and I got inspired to do some, if not all, from the list. Been busy and stressed lately. I do need some break.

  • Make the time for solitude and let some things fall through the cracks.
  • Try doing one less blog post per week or read a few less blogs in busy seasons. Blog world will still spin without our constant communication and participation. Your true friends will be there when you return.
  • Save up your emails and deal with them all in one sitting to avoid the constant interruptions.
  • Get up one half hour earlier to enjoy the quiet of the morning.
  • Turn off your phone and computer earlier in the evening. The world can wait until tomorrow.
  • If you have children at home, shut the door to your bedroom or bathroom for a short time each day or evening (if your husband is home or your kids are old enough to be alone!) and tell the children mommy is in quiet time.
  • Set appointments with yourself to do something different each week with some quiet time. Wander through an art museum, read a book at a new coffee shop, walk through a botanical garden, listen to music and daydream.
  • Create a special place for solitude. A clean and inviting bedroom can be a private sanctuary. Put on fresh sheets, pull open a window and a set a bouquet by your bedside.
  • Create rituals for your private time and look forward to those experiences. Light candles, journal your thoughts in pretty notebooks, meditate on gratitude, pray.
  • Learn to say no without excuses.
  • Be selective in how you spend your day, making sure to guard your private time.
  • Give yourself permission to live life at a different pace than others around you.
  • Make ordinary moments more special. A morning cup of coffee can be a memorable daily ritual if we slow down enough to savor it it solitude.
  • Be yourself and live authentically. Trying to impress is a sure fire way to be unbalanced in life.
  • Let go of the guilt for things you can’t get to and things you cannot control.

I am thinking of putting up a blog where I can put together all my pretty finds and inspirations for the home. Hmm…

And I should start scrapping so I can have something to post in here. Yeah, right. :)

For an oatmeal cookie.

old-fashioned oatmeal cookie from starbucks.

Eversince I tried the oatmeal cookies sold at one of the clinics of my son’s pedia, I couldn’t get enough of it. I even tried to schedule the little boy’s checkup there even it is a bit far from us just so we can buy the cookies. The little boy knows the drill, too as he is the one who gets the cookies from the table.

I tried Starbucks’ old fashioned oatmeal cookie last week and I liked it. Save for the raisins as I am not really fond of raisins. But it was good, it was soft and it was chewy. I was bit disappointed though because the one I bought in a different store the other day is not as soft. Old stock?

angus tapa at las paellas cafe.

I need to take my asthma med with a full stomach so I usually have my breakfast at Las Paellas Cafe after dropping the little boy to school. The husband joins me there. I eat while he works on his laptop. He drinks the free coffee that comes with my food. :D {Extra rice not shown. hihihihi!}

Is This It?

I have been in search for a laptop bag for weeks now. I have visited several multiply stores but I never saw anything I liked. And just now, I stumbled upon Pinder Bags at ShopCrazy. However, the info posted in ShopCrazy was 2 years ago. :(

Anyway, I initially wanted this black and purple combination.

Then I thought this brown and pink combination will go well with my laptop.

Decisions. Decisions.

Suggestions for “affordable” and doesn’t-look-like-a-laptop-bag laptop bags are very much welcome.

Asthma?!

Posted on July 8, 2008 by admin2 Comments

Oh my!

I went back to the doctor this afternoon and guess what, I have asthma! I never had asthma ever so I was quite surprised with the findings. I was coughing a few weeks back which prompted me to have an x-ray. The results came out clear. So I just doubled up my vitamin C and took some rest. The cough never went away and I even got a fever. So I went to the doctor and she gave some meds. I got well in a week’s time. However the cough is still there and the little boy’s pedia told me to go back to my doctor since she thinks it was an allergy attack {similar to the attacks the little boy frequently has}. This time the doctor heard some wheezing and accdg to her, most likely it’s asthma. She said it’s common nowadays, even for people who never had asthma, to have it due to the environment. The doctor hopes that this is just a one time attack. I hope so, too. The culprit ~ our neighbor who is having their house built. Hay.

I wish I can visit you and reply to your comments and messages. Unfortunately, our internet connection is crawling and I just don’t have enough patience to wait for a page to load. Our DSL is down for 3 days now (!!!!), and right now I’m connected via the cellphone.

Later.
